Back on June 26, Bill Melugin stepped into the America’s Newsroom anchor chair and fans quickly started lobbying for him to stay there more often.
A fresh face with a familiar edge
Filling in for co-anchor Bill Hemmer, Melugin joined Dana Perino to lead the morning’s headlines. His confident delivery and polished style drew instant praise on X, with one viewer calling him “a breath of fresh air!”
Another fan urged Fox News to “give that guy a regular spot,” while others zeroed in on his looks, calling him “very handsome” and complimenting his “gorgeous head of hair.”
“Bill Melugin, you are very impressive!” one person wrote, adding that Melugin seemed to hold his own with Fox News veterans like Martha MacCallum and Dana Perino. “You definitely fit right in! You’re very wise in your comments and pushback.”
Holding his own in big-league interviews
Melugin’s guest-host stint included sitting down with Perino and political analyst Brit Hume to unpack the controversy surrounding Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s criticism of Fox News Pentagon reporter Jennifer Griffin.
Hegseth had blasted reporters for their coverage of the bombings of Iran’s nuclear facilities, directed by President Donald Trump, saying, “You want him not to be successful so bad, you have to cheer against the efficacy of the strikes.”
While Hegseth later softened his remarks, acknowledging the mission’s success, Hume defended Griffin on-air, calling the comments an “attack” she did not deserve.
“Her professionalism, her knowledge, and her experience at the Pentagon is unmatched,” Hume said, adding that he has “the greatest regard for her.”
Fans want him back — and soon
The morning may have been business as usual for Melugin, but viewer reaction suggests his presence didn’t go unnoticed. Social media lit up with calls for him to be a regular fixture on America’s Newsroom.
As one fan put it: “Do your organization a favor @FoxNews and give Melugin more airtime!”
Judging by the reaction, plenty of viewers would second that motion, even weeks later.
