Aimee Osbourne Spent A Lifetime Avoiding Fame, But When She Finally Returned To Say Goodbye To Her Father Ozzy, He Was Already Gone And Their Last Moment Was Lost Forever

Ozzy Osbourne‘s rarely-seen daughter Aimee courageously put herself in the spotlight for her beloved father at his funeral procession this week, despite choosing to live a life away from fame.

The Black Sabbath rocker died aged 76 on July 22 and his funeral cortege travelled through his hometown of Birmingham on Wednesday, passing thousands of fans who lined the streets.

But unlike her famous younger siblings Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39, who are used to being in the public eye after growing up on The Osbournes, Aimee had the extra pressure of facing fame, on top of her father’s emotional send off.

Aimee, 41, has always preferred to keep away from fame after refusing to star on the family’s show.

She even chose not to appear at Ozzy’s farewell gig earlier this month after she reportedly wanted to ‘protect herself’.

Her brave decision to step into the limelight and pay respects with the world also forced her to put differences aside with her estranged sister Kelly.

Kelly and Aimee have had a fraught relationship for years, after Aimee decided to move out when she was 16 to avoid appearing in her family’s MTV reality show.

In recent years the vastly-different siblings had admitted they weren’t on speaking terms, with Kelly saying in an interview they just ‘didn’t understand each other.’

Kelly, who appeared on the Dax Shepard podcast Armchair Expert, revealed in 2021 that she and her older sister had been estranged for a long time.

‘We don’t talk,’ Kelly said. ‘We’re just really different. She doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand her.’

Meanwhile, back in 2015 Aimee shared with The Independent that her and Kelly were not on close terms.

‘I wouldn’t say there is an ease between us, but there is an acceptance,’ she said. ‘Do we socialize? No.’

But as they united in grief to mourn their father and support their widowed mother Sharon, the sisters forgot their bitter feud for the emotional day.

The teary-eyed pair was seen walking together side by side as the family led the heartbreaking funeral procession.

In memory of her father, Aimee and her mother Sharon paid a hidden tribute to Ozzy during the procession.

They held their hands up and gave a double peace sign – a gesture which has become synonymous with the metal star.

Aimee was largely raised in California until the age of 16, however she eventually moved out of the family home as filming for The Osbournes kicked off.

She said that she would have liked to stay at home ‘a little longer’, but as the MTV crew moved in the then teenager moved out.

Reflecting on her decision to not appear on the show she added: ‘Back then, I still felt I was trying to figure out who I was in the chaos of family life, so why on earth would I want that portrayed on television?

‘I wanted to protect myself, my parents, my siblings, too. They were very young, very impressionable.’

Sharon said on the Talk in 2018: ‘She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea — it was appalling to her.

‘And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did. It broke my heart when she moved.’

Sharon also admitted she was devastated when Aimee moved out, saying on The Talk in 2018: ‘She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea – it was appalling to her.

While Amiee largely remains out of the spotlight, she is reportedly set to appear in a documentary about her rocker father.

Ozzy had been filming a feature-length documentary for Paramount Plus, called Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, before his death on July 22.

The special, which had been filming for several months, is believed to airing later this year and Ozzy’s famous family will appear in the release.

According to The Sun, Ozzy’s rarely-seen daughter Aimee, 41, will also feature in the documentary alongside her mother Sharon and siblings Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39.

A TV insider told the publication: ‘Aimee never wanted to be in the spotlight, she was never comfortable with the attention.

‘However, she believed the documentary about her father’s life was a fitting way to break cover, as the special has a deep and emotive angle.’

It will also feature appearances from other major stars including his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, and other rock legends.

In 2003, she featured in the MTV musical adaption of Wuthering Heights. Presently she is the lead singer for pop band ARO, whose first single Raining Gold was released in 2015.

Ozzy shares daughters Kelly and Aimee, as well as son Jack, with his wife of 43 years Sharon, and also had three children, Louis, Jessica and Eliot, from his first marriage to wife Thelma Riley.
